About Abma's Farm Hillsborough
Abma's Farm Hillsborough, on Amwell Road, is the second farm of the family behind Abma's Farm in Wyckoff. The farm calls it a retail and wholesale extension of the Wyckoff farm. Here the family grows produce, hay and straw, raises its own livestock and chickens, and keeps beehives, to supply the farm markets in Hillsborough and Wyckoff, a CSA and outside markets. The farm says it now farms over 800 acres and supplies 80 retail outlets.
The roadside farm market sells fresh produce from the fields, beef and pork from pasture-raised livestock, eggs, raw honey, baked goods from a scratch bakery, homemade deli salads and specialties from the farm's kitchen, and a selection of local gourmet items. The petting zoo and education barn are open year round: goats, sheep, alpacas, donkeys, cows, pigs, peacocks, emus, ducks and more, with a Nursery Barn and a Rabbitat, and exhibits on crop growing, egg laying, pollination and honey. Admission to the education barn is included with the petting zoo ticket.
In the fall the farm adds its Fall Fun Package, and in season there is a flower field where you cut your own zinnias, snapdragons and other blooms and fill a mason jar.

Special / Seasonal Events
The Fall Fun Package runs from mid-September through October. It starts with a round-trip hayride through the farm to the pumpkin patch and the corn mazes. You choose the full corn maze or the shorter Popcorn Trail, which suits little kids, pick a pumpkin in the field, then ride back for the petting zoo. Pumpkins are sold separately by weight, cash only, in the field.
For 2026 the farm also runs these special events. Kids' Pumpkin Decorating with Goats is on Fridays in October at 10 AM, noon, 2 PM and 2:30 PM, and BYOB Pumpkin Carving with Goats, for ages 21 and up, runs in select evening sessions on Fridays in October. The Flashlight Corn Maze on October 16 and 17 runs 5 to 9 PM, with the last time slot at 8 PM: a nighttime hayride, then the corn maze by flashlight, or the Popcorn Trail for younger guests, and a visit with the animals. The legendary Headless Horseman roams the farm that night. It is a themed family evening, and the farm gives no age or scare guidance for it. Oktoberfest is on Saturday, October 17, from 5 to 9 PM, with free admission, Flounder Brewing Co., German food, live music and a stein-holding contest. The petting zoo and the Flashlight Corn Maze need their own tickets that night.
On Wednesdays, grandparents get free petting zoo admission for Grandparents' Day.
Tips and Tricks
Bring cash for pumpkins and flowers, because the farm takes only cash in the fields. Buy petting zoo and fall tickets online ahead of time, which costs less than paying at the door.
Admission & Guidelines
The farm market is open to walk into. The petting zoo is ticketed: as listed on the farm's petting zoo page, online tickets are $5.50 for adults and for children age 2 and up, and tickets bought at the door are $7 in cash, with children under 24 months free. The farm sells petting zoo tickets on a timed entry system online, and online tickets are the cheaper way in.
The Fall Fun Package needs a ticket for everyone age 2 and up. For 2026 the Visit Somerset county calendar lists it at $19 per person. It covers the round-trip hayride, the full-size corn maze, the Popcorn Trail, the pumpkin patch and petting zoo admission. Pumpkins are extra, by weight, and cash only.
Flower picking is pay for what you pick, cash only in the field: $16 for a basic bouquet or $21 for a bouquet with a keepsake mason jar.
Hours / Season of Operation
The roadside farm market and the petting zoo and education barn are open year round, Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and closed on Sundays. The last petting zoo ticket is sold at 5 PM. Winter hours are limited, and the farm is closed on major holidays: Easter, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, plus the observed days.
The Fall Fun Package runs from mid-September through October, on weekdays, Saturdays and holidays. The Flashlight Corn Maze is the evening of October 16 and 17, 5 to 9 PM.
