Oct 2026: April freezes cost most of this year's apple crop, and the farm's own pages disagree on whether any pick-your-own apples are offered this fall. Call 908-852-9122 (x1) before you go for apples.

About Donaldson Farms
Donaldson Farms is a family owned and operated Northern New Jersey produce farm in Hackettstown, run by Greg and Katie Donaldson and their family. It has been farming since 1906, helping to keep the Hackettstown area green for over 100 years, and 2026 is its 120th anniversary. The farm grows hundreds of acres of fruits and vegetables on more than 500 acres, with long-range views of growing crops and mountains.
Pick your own through the seasons: strawberries from early June, raspberries and blackberries through summer and into fall, apples from mid-September in a normal year, and pumpkins and gourds daily through Halloween. In fall the 9-acre corn maze opens daily, and on Fall Harvest Weekends tractor-drawn hayrides run out to the pumpkin patch and the apple orchard, with pony visits, food trucks, kettle corn, caramel apples, apple cider donuts and live music on some days. Duck races on old-fashioned pumps run whenever the farm market is open.
The farm market is stocked with a full line of fresh fruits and vegetables, most of them grown right on the farm, plus freshly baked pies and other baked goods, dairy, local raw honey, local glass-bottled milk, cheese, meats, local maple syrups, jellies, jams, sauce and salsa, gift baskets and products from local vendors. Gift cards are sold for the farm market. The farm also offers farm education and group tours, private tours, birthday parties, weddings and corporate events.

Programs / Education
Donaldson Farms runs educational farm tours for schools and groups in spring, summer and fall on its 500+ acre working produce farm, tailored to each group's grade level and goals and in line with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. Every tour includes pre-tour planning, a private tent as the group's home base, an interactive educational hayride tour of the farm with stops to talk about the crops, a picking or planting activity, a lesson on the growth cycle of the crop, a healthy snack and drink, and age-appropriate storytime if you want it. A visit lasts about 90 minutes and can include a stop at Donaldson's Greenhouse and Nursery to see the Koi pond and waterfall and feed the fish.
Tour options include pick-your-own tours, a Farm Soil Sample Tour, a Corn Pollination Tour, Equine Education with the farm's ponies and horses, and farm crafts. Strawberry tours run in May (planting) and June (picking), raspberry and blackberry tours from early July through September, and pumpkin and apple tours from late September through October, with pumpkins picked from a private patch kept for tours. Bring a packed lunch, or ask about pizza and catering. The calendar fills fast, especially in strawberry and pumpkin season; call 908-852-9122 (x2) to book.

Fall Harvest Weekends
Fall Harvest Weekends run Saturdays, Sundays and Columbus Day from the last weekend in September through October; for 2026 that is September 26 to October 31, plus Columbus Day, October 12, from 10 AM to 5 PM, weather permitting. There are pony visits, food trucks and vendors, kettle corn, freshly squeezed lemonade, caramel apples, apple cider donuts by the half dozen and freshly baked pies, plus live music or line dancing on some days. On most October weekend afternoons the Czig Meister Brewing Company Can Shack pours samples and sells craft beer, hard tea and seltzers, and the Coldstone on Wheels ice cream truck is there too.
Corn Maze
The 9-acre corn maze is open every day from late September through October, until an hour before closing. For 2026 it opened September 26 with a design celebrating the farm's 120th anniversary, and the farm is donating $1 from every corn maze entry this season to Local Share, Foodshed Alliance.
Through the rest of the year the farm runs Strawberry Weekends, Friday Nights on the Farm, a Sweet Corn & Garlic Festival, a food truck festival and a summer Farm Camp.
