About Bullock Farms

Bullock Farms is a family owned and operated, 175-acre preserved farm in Cream Ridge, worked by the Bullock family since 1860 and now in its seventh generation. It sits in the gently rolling hills of central New Jersey, among green pastures and open farmland, and the family grows pumpkins and gourds, Christmas trees, corn, soybeans, wheat, barley and straw.

Fall is the big season. Take a hayride out to the pick-your-own pumpkin fields, past festive scarecrows and fall decor, or choose from classic and unusual pumpkins and gourds at the Pumpkin Market. The Bullock Barnyard has donkeys, sheep, goats and chickens, sunflower and zinnia fields to explore, and a 6-acre corn maze with a lookout tower and views across the farm. Little ones can climb and slide down the straw mountain, tackle the obstacle courses and smaller kids' mazes, and play in a giant corn box built into a converted 1967 International grain truck. The Snack Shed sells the farm's oven-fresh apple cider donuts along with seasonal snacks and drinks.

In winter about 12 acres of Christmas trees open for choose-and-cut. The farm will cut your tree on request, nets and loads it onto your car and drills it for a pin stand, and keeps a limited selection of pre-cut trees in the barn. The Cranberry House Gift Shop, in a barn once used to process cranberries in the late 1800s, carries Christmas crafts, the farm's own hand-painted gourds and honey from hives on the farm. From May through early September the farm hosts weddings, corporate events and other special events.

Screamin' Hill Brewery, New Jersey's first farm brewery, is on the farm too. Its beer is handcrafted in a rustic old barn on the property from grain, hops, fruits and vegetables grown here, and the brewery is open year-round on Fridays and Saturdays.

A Brief History

The Bullock family has farmed this land since 1860. In the early days alfalfa, corn and potatoes were the main crops, and cranberries grown in bogs in nearby Prospertown were processed on the farm in the Cranberry House. Potatoes and grain carried the farm through the 1950s, tomatoes took over in the 1960s, and from the early 1970s through the 1990s it was all grain.

Pumpkins started in the mid-1980s as a project for the young sixth generation and are now one of the main crops. Christmas trees went in in 1989, and the farm opened for cut-your-own in 1999. In 2015 Brett Bullock and his co-owners opened Screamin' Hill Brewery in an old barn on the property, and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture named it the state's first farm brewery. Martin and Janet Bullock and their son Brett are the fifth and sixth generations living and farming here, and the seventh generation now helps with the straw baling, the pumpkin harvest and Christmas tree season.

Admission & Guidelines

No dogs or other pets, no smoking and no outside alcohol are allowed on the farm. Stay within the marked activity areas and off the hayride paths. Parties are booked in advance. At Christmas tree time the farm takes cash, check, Visa and MasterCard, does not allow trees to be tagged ahead of time, and asks that professional photo shoots be arranged in advance.

Hours / Season of Operation

The fall season runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from mid-September through late October, 10 AM to 5 PM, weather permitting. For 2026 the farm is open for fall from September 19 to October 25.

Cut-your-own Christmas trees follow in winter, with wreaths and grave blankets available after Thanksgiving; the farm posts the tree season on the Winter page of its site. Screamin' Hill Brewery is open year-round on Fridays and Saturdays.

Nearby Places

Cream Ridge is farm country, and there is plenty close by. Holland Ridge Farms, famous for its spring tulip fields, is a few minutes north, and Clayton Park has miles of rolling singletrack through woods and fields. Cream Ridge Winery and the Union Transportation Trail are a few miles west, and Six Flags Great Adventure is just over the county line in Jackson.
