A Brief History

George and Aphrodite Mackres bought Argos Farm in 1985 as a hobby farm, with some fruit trees, Christmas trees and a small flock of sheep. In 2003 their third daughter, Angela Martin, and her husband Spyro left Monmouth County, where Spyro commuted to Wall Street and Angela taught elementary school, to take it on.

By December 2005 a 20,000 square foot horse barn was finished, and for eight years the farm offered boarding, riding lessons, trail rides, summer camp and pony parties. At the same time the Martins started a small fall festival with pumpkin picking, hay rides and pony rides, and it grew into the farm's main focus. In 2014 part of the barn became a seasonal cafe, farm market and bakery, and in January 2020 the family moved all of the attractions closer to the market, which added parking and room to move.

Argos Farm Market

The 10,000 square foot market, in part of the farm's old horse barn, has been filled with fresh-picked GMO-free produce, apple cider donuts, pies, fudge, clover honey, goat milk soap, ice cream and seasonal decor. The farm also sells its own naturally grown vegetables and meats. During the festivals the market is open to ticket holders only.

Fall Festival

Corn maze, pumpkin picking, wagon rides, pony rides, more than 30 farm attractions and live music, from mid-September to the start of November. For 2026 it runs September 12 to November 1.

Jacks and Lights

The farm's evening event, billed as the Jersey Shore's glowing pumpkin experience: a lighted trail of thousands of carved jack o'lanterns, a flashlight maze, a pumpkin patch, photo ops and pumpkin-themed shakes, with a Spook-Easy on select dates. The farm pitches it as friendly family fun, not a scare. For 2026 it runs evenings from September 18 to November 1, with its own tickets at jacksandlights.com.

Summer Festivals

The Baby Animal Fest brings baby farm animals, live music and blueberry picking, with the blueberry harvest expected around the end of June. The Sunflower Festival follows with sunflowers to stroll through and pick. Dates for 2027 have not been announced yet.

Admission & Guidelines

The Fall Festival is ticketed, and the farm sells tickets online, with a saving for buying ahead. Pumpkin picking is paid for separately from admission, and you do not need a general admission ticket to go into the pumpkin patch. Only ticket holders can enter the market. Pony rides run on weekends and Columbus Day from noon to 6 PM.

Jacks and Lights has its own tickets, which are limited, and select dates sell out. At the Sunflower Festival, picked flowers are paid for separately and pick limits may apply. Current prices are on the farm's pricing page.

Hours / Season of Operation

The Fall Festival runs from mid-September to the start of November. September is weekends from 10 AM to 6 PM, plus a few weekday afternoons; in October the farm is open Thursdays and Fridays from 2 PM to 6 PM, weekends from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Columbus Day from 10 AM to 6 PM. For 2026 the festival runs September 12 to November 1.

Jacks and Lights opens in the evenings. For 2026 it runs September 18 to November 1: in September, Friday and Saturday 6 PM to 10 PM and Sunday 6 PM to 9 PM; in October and November, Thursday and Sunday 6 PM to 9 PM, Friday and Saturday 6 PM to 10 PM, and Columbus Day 6 PM to 9 PM.

The Baby Animal Fest and the Sunflower Festival run in summer. Days change during the season, so check the farm's site before you go.

Directions

From the Argos site: Easily accessible One Mile off of the Garden State Parkway Exit #74. Make a left and Argos Farm is on the left hand side.

Our GPS Experience: Using the address provided on the Argos website (1250 Lacey Rd, Forked River, NJ 08731), Google Maps brought us to the center of Lacey, east of the Garden State Parkway. This is not correct. Argos is located on Lacey Rd, but just west of the parkway, south of Double Trouble SP...

Double Trouble State Park is just up the road, a couple of miles north, and the Popcorn Park Animal Refuge is also in Forked River, a short drive west.
