About Evergreen Valley Christmas Tree Farm
Evergreen Valley is a choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm on 145 acres in the hills of Washington, in Warren County. You walk the fields, pick your own tree, and cut it yourself or have a farm helper do it. The species are Blue Spruce, Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir, Douglas-Fir, Fraser Fir, Norway Spruce, Scotch Pine and White Pine, and the farm says most are up to 11 feet tall, with pines that can run to 14 feet.
A free wagon ride takes you out to the fields where the trees are. There is a back field of 9 to 11 foot Canaan fir, if you want a big one. Prices are set by species, not by height, so a 3 foot tree costs the same as a 10 foot one.
Handmade wreaths, ornaments by local artisans and birdhouses are for sale at the farm. The Alpaugh family started the farm in 2003, and three generations now work it. The farmland is preserved, and the fields look out toward the surrounding mountains.

Tips and Tricks
Bring a hand saw if you want to cut your own tree. Chain saws and other motorized saws are not allowed. Farm helpers will cut a tree for anyone who would rather not, and they can carry it back for you.
If you use a GPS, enter the farm name rather than the street address.
Admission & Guidelines
You pay for the tree you choose, by species, not by size. The farm takes cash and credit cards, not checks, and New Jersey sales tax is added at the register. Netting the tree to make it easier to carry is $2 extra.
Dogs are not allowed in the fields. The only exception is a trained service dog. There is no alcohol, no tailgating and no campfires.
Directions
The farm is at 77 Jackson Valley Road in Washington, about 1,300 feet west of Route 31 at the traffic light for Jackson Valley Road (County Road 628). From Interstate 78, take Exit 17 to Route 31 North and go about 13 miles to Washington. After crossing Route 57, continue 1.5 miles on Route 31 North to the next light and turn left. From Interstate 80, take Exit 19 to Route 517 south to Hackettstown, then Route 57 west about 12 miles to Washington, turn right on Route 31 North, and turn left at the first light, 1.5 miles up.
