About Von Thun's Country Farm Market
Von Thun's Country Farm Market is the Von Thun family's farm on Ridge Road in South Brunswick, where the family has farmed for five generations. It is open from spring through fall for pick your own, with two apple orchards, acres of pumpkins, berry fields and greenhouses, and a farm market that is still housed in a barn. The family also runs a second farm in Washington, Warren County.
Picking starts with strawberries in mid-May and runs through blueberries, snap and pod peas and blackberries in summer to eight varieties of apples and fields of pumpkins from mid-September through October. The farm market sells the farm's own sweet corn, Jersey tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables, homegrown Angus beef year round, local honey, farm fresh eggs, apple cider, homemade apple cider donuts and fresh baked pies.
Fall is the big season. Every Saturday and Sunday from mid-September into early November is a Fall Festival Weekend, with a 6-acre themed corn maze, unlimited hayrides to the pumpkin patch, apple and pumpkin picking and more than 30 games and attractions, from pedal karts and a straw maze to barnyard mini golf, rubber duck races, a singing chicken show and farm animals. Corn cannons, apple blasters and a paintball shooting range cost extra, and food trucks come on weekends. On weekdays the corn maze and the apple and pumpkin picking stay open, without hayrides. On the last Friday and Saturday nights in October, the Moonlight Corn Maze and Campfires let you walk the maze by flashlight, take a hayride and roast s'mores by a fire.

A Brief History
In 1913 Henry Von Thun bought 90 acres of New Jersey farmland and grew potatoes and grain. His son Henry M. and then his grandson Bob Von Thun Sr. kept farming it, trading work horses for tractors. In 1986 Bob Jr. went into partnership with his father, and together they added a farm market and pick-your-own fields, turning the farm toward fruits and vegetables. Greenhouses came in 1989, berry crops followed, and from 1995 Bob and Cindy Von Thun built up the fall season with hayrides, the corn maze and the Fall Festival Weekends. Five generations of the family have now farmed here.
Programs / Education
The farm hosts school field trips in spring and fall, birthday parties, baby showers and team building outings in its party zone for groups of 20 or more, and runs a CSA program.
Special / Seasonal Events
Fall Festival Weekends
Saturdays and Sundays from mid-September into early November, 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission covers the corn maze and its passports and puzzles, unlimited hayrides to the pumpkin patch, the farm animals and the activity area: pedal karts, junior pedal karts and a John Deere trike course, a straw maze, barnyard mini golf, giant pumpkin checkers and tic-tac-toe, pumpkin bowling, corn hole, rubber duck races, the Singing Chicken Show, a bubble barn, a sandbox and photo spots. The corn maze takes most people 35 to 45 minutes, and the theme changes every year; for 2026 it is Dogs and Dinos. The festival areas also open on some school holidays; for 2026 that is Monday, September 21 (Yom Kippur) and Monday, October 12 (Columbus Day), 11 AM to 4 PM.
Moonlight Corn Maze and Campfires
On the last Friday and Saturday nights in October, walk the corn maze by moonlight or flashlight, take a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and sit by a campfire making s'mores. It is offered only at the South Brunswick farm. For 2026 the dates are Friday October 16, Saturday October 17, Friday October 23, Saturday October 24 and Friday October 30. Groups of 40 or more can book weeknight moonlight outings.
Strawberry Festival
Weekend strawberry picking comes with the Strawberry Festival in late May and early June; on weekdays strawberry picking needs only a field pass.
Tips and Tricks
For fall festival visits the farm gives its address as 505 Ridge Road, Dayton, NJ 08810. Pets are not allowed at either Von Thun farm, emotional support animals included; service animals are welcome. Outside food and picnicking are not allowed, but Reichler Park, a few minutes away in South Brunswick, has picnic and play areas. This is a real farm, so wear shoes you do not mind getting dirty. For the moonlight maze, bring flashlights and a jacket, and check in at the farm market for a wristband.
Admission & Guidelines
For 2026, Fall Festival Weekend general admission is $21.99 online in September and $24.99 online in October, $3 more bought at the farm, and children under 3 are free. It covers the corn maze, unlimited hayrides to the pumpkin patch, the activities and entry to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch; apples and pumpkins are paid for separately. The Blast Pass adds five corn cannon and five apple blaster shots, and the Ultimate Pass adds a small bag of pick-your-own apples as well. A 2026 Fall Season Pass ($45.99) covers both Von Thun farms for the whole fall, the moonlight maze included. All ticket sales are final, and active military and veterans get free festival admission.
On weekdays in 2026 the corn maze is $9.99, and apple or pumpkin picking is a $3 entry per person over 2 plus the cost of what you pick. Moonlight packages for 2026 run from $10.99 for the maze alone to $28.99 for the maze, a hayride, a campfire and s'mores, plus tax. The farm prefers cash but takes major credit cards, and there is no ATM.
Hours / Season of Operation
The farm market is open daily from mid-May through mid-November, 10 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and 9 AM to 5 PM on weekends. Berry fields are closed on Mondays.
Pick your own follows the crops: strawberries from mid-May to early June, blueberries from mid-June to mid-July, peas in the second half of June, blackberries from mid-July to early September, and apples and pumpkins from mid-September through October. Call the farm market at 732-329-8656 before you go, since weather decides what is ready.
Fall Festival Weekends run Saturdays and Sundays from mid-September into early November, 10 AM to 5 PM, with the last ticket sold at 4 PM; for 2026 that is September 19 through November 8. On fall weekdays the corn maze and the apple and pumpkin picking are open 1 to 5 PM, with no hayrides.
