About Russo's Fruit & Vegetable Farm

Russo's Fruit & Vegetable Farm is a family farm in Tabernacle, founded in 1940 by Anthony Russo Jr. on 86 acres and now almost 900 acres. The family grows sweet corn, apples, peaches, tomatoes, pumpkins, string beans and a long list of other crops. It runs two sites in town: the main store and bakery at 529 Medford Lakes Road, and the Pick Your Own Annex at 299 Flyatt Road, which is open in fall.

Fall visits start at the Annex. A wagon ride takes you out to the fields, where you pick your own pumpkins from the vine, pick sunflowers (new for 2026) and pick popcorn. The farm also has a 10-acre family-friendly corn maze, and the price of the maze and of the sunflower field is included in the wagon ride cost. Apple picking is part of the farm's usual season, with Red Delicious, Gold Rush, Pink Lady and Winesap listed, but the farm lost its 2026 apple crop to a spring freeze.

The bakery at the main store sells apple cider donuts, fresh pies, bread, muffins, rolls and cookies, and takes orders for holidays and special occasions. The farm also offers school and group tours at a special rate and fall birthday parties.

Special / Seasonal Events

For 2026, the Fall Harvest Festival is a one-day event on Saturday, October 3, from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Pick Your Own Annex, with pick-your-own pumpkins, wagon rides, apple cider donuts, local food vendors, a bounce house and kids' activities. Later in the fall the farm holds a Holiday Sip and Shop on November 19 and a Thanksgiving Flower Arranging Workshop on November 22 at the main store.

Tips and Tricks

Children must be supervised at all times, and you must stay seated on the wagon ride to the field. No pets are allowed except service dogs, and there is no smoking, vaping or alcohol. This is a working farm, so watch for tractors and vehicles, and do not run, throw pumpkins or climb in the trees. Pumpkin varieties and availability change through the season with growing conditions, and sunflowers depend on the weather too.

Hours / Season of Operation

Fall picking at the Annex runs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from mid-September through October. For 2026 it is open September 18 to October 31, 9 AM to 5 PM, and the last wagon leaves at 4:30 PM. The Annex is also open on Columbus Day, Monday, October 12.

The main store, at 529 Medford Lakes Road, is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 AM to 6 PM and Sunday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, from April 1 to Christmas Eve. It is closed on Thanksgiving Day and closes at 4 PM on Christmas Eve.
