About Johnson's Locust Hall Farm

Johnson's Locust Hall Farm is a family-owned farm of more than 300 acres on Monmouth Road in Jobstown, run by the Johnson family of Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford. The fall season is the big one: a hayride from the Farm Market takes you out to the fields, where you pick your own apples, pumpkins and sunflowers and walk the 5-acre family corn maze. The maze paths are wide and well-maintained, and the farm says they are stroller and wheelchair accessible. It gives out a digital map and has staff watching the maze to help anyone who is turned around.

The Animal Farm and Play Patch has goats, sheep, ponies and other farm animals. On festival weekends the Farm House Grill and live music run from noon to 4 PM. The Farm Market sells in-season produce from the farm, pasture-raised beef, chicken and pork, local honey, jams, pies and the farm's apple cider donuts, plus a Tomasello Winery tasting outlet.

Picking runs most of the year in lasting order: radishes, strawberries and sugar snap peas in spring, blackberries, peaches, tomatoes, sunflowers and field flowers in summer, then zinnias, apples, pumpkins and popcorn in fall. What is ready varies with the weather, and the farm posts its season schedule each year.

The farm also hosts weddings, private and corporate events in its barns and holds a calendar of seasonal events such as wreath workshops and breakfast with Santa.

A Brief History

Locust Hall Farm is named for a small grove of locust trees. A fieldstone and clapboard farmhouse, reached by a driveway about 1,500 feet long, was started in 1693, and the stone barn and smoke house were built in 1787. The farm says the first documented iron plow in the United States was brought to Locust Hall and tested on its land.

In 1948 the farm was sold to the Tallman family, who turned the house into a bed and breakfast. In 1998 it joined the Burlington County Farmland Preservation Program, which protects the property from development. Eric and Peter Johnson bought it in 2013 to open the family's second farm; the original, Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford, dates to 1953.

Special / Seasonal Events

For 2026, Evenings on the Farm are ticketed nights on September 12 and 19, 6 to 9 PM, with live music, the Farm House Grill, lawn games, an ice cream window, late market hours and hayrides to the fields when the weather allows. Reservations are required at $9.95 per person, free for under 2. Barnyard Buddies, a morning program on the farm's calendar, has a Little Ghouls and Pumpkins Halloween Special on October 31, 9 AM to 12 PM, and the Foliage Festival runs October 31 and November 1, 9 AM to 6 PM. Holiday events in December include a wreath workshop, Breakfast with Santa and a Festive Night on the Farm.

Tips and Tricks

Check in near the Farm Market, then board the hayride there for the fields and corn maze. Well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome in outdoor areas, but not inside buildings, so bring your own water and clean-up supplies. Reservations are highly recommended for winery tastings on Saturdays and Sundays in peak season; call 609-521-5204. Plan ahead around Mother Nature, since what is ripe to pick changes week to week.

Admission & Guidelines

The farm sells a Fall 2026 Activity Ticket online that covers the hayride to the fields, the corn maze, the sunflower and flower fields, the apple orchard, the pumpkin patch and the Animal Farm and Play Patch, with reduced rates on Thursdays and Fridays. The farm's pages do not list the ticket price, so check the farm's fall page before you go.

Crops you pick are paid for separately. For 2026, apples are $8.00 for a quarter-peck bag and $15.00 for a half-peck bag, with bags provided and no outside bags allowed. Pumpkins and gourds are $0.95 per pound, sunflowers are $1.50 each, and a zinnia or cosmos bucket of up to 25 stems is $12.50. A tasting at the Tomasello Winery outlet is $16 per person for five wines and an etched glass.

Hours / Season of Operation

The fall season runs Thursday through Sunday from early September to the first of November. For 2026 it is September 10 to November 1: Thursday and Friday 9 AM to 5 PM, with the last hayride out to the picking fields at 4:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 9 AM to 6 PM, with the last hayride at 4:30 PM. Fields close at the earlier of closing time or dusk. Festival weekends, September 12 to November 1, add the Farm House Grill and live music from 12 to 4 PM, and the Tomasello Winery tasting outlet is open 11 AM to 5 PM on Thursday and Friday and 11 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

For 2026 the farm market keeps late fall hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM, from November 7 to December 20, and then closes to the public until spring 2027. Venue tours and private events are by appointment all year.

Facilities

Free on-site parking is available, including wheelchair accessible spaces, and the entrance, seating areas and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. There are indoor and outdoor picnic spaces, with picnic tables, and the Farm House Grill and ice cream window serve food on event days.
