About Riamede Farm
Riamede Farm is an old-fashioned apple orchard on Oakdale Road in Chester, 68 acres with a pumpkin field out back. The farm says it was one of the first pick-your-own apple orchards in New Jersey, first opening its orchards to the public at harvest in 1974. Half the orchard is big old seedling apple trees planted in the 1930s, and the acreage has been a farm since the late 1700s. The farm describes itself as peaceful and quiet, simple and authentic, and without the carnival.
In the fall, pumpkins come first. Pick your own pumpkins right off the vine, bring heavy-duty kitchen shears or pruning clippers to cut them, and wear closed-toe shoes in the patch. On weekends and holidays, when weather permits, a hay wagon takes you out to the pumpkin patch at no extra charge. Then head into the orchard for apples and the flower fields, which have sunflowers, snapdragons, marigolds and zinnias. The farm's fall lineup also lists a corn trail, a pumpkin house, an apple slingshot, kids' lawn games and photo spots.
Weekends add pony rides and visiting farm animals, live music that changes each week, and the Orchard Grill and Sweet Shed, which sell apple cider donuts, cider slushies and a full concession stand. The farm also has a retail store and runs public and private events.

Special / Seasonal Events
Fall Fest is the farm's big season. For 2026 the ticket page gives Fall Fest as September 1 to November 1, with weekends the busiest and the most going on: the hay wagon, apple slingshot, pony rides, farm animals, live music, the Orchard Grill and the Sweet Shed all run on weekends only, and the lineup changes every weekend. Weekdays are quieter and cover the open picking fields only.
The farm also runs Apple Days and Pumpkin Days in the fall, with hay wagon rides, live music and picking, and a late-summer Bloom Fest with flower and vegetable picking.
Tips and Tricks
Bring a reusable bag to pick into, or buy a heavy-duty picking bag at admission. The farm gives out paper bags too. You may bring your own wagon, but not your own picking pole, balls, frisbees or a drone.
Plan to leave the orchard to eat. The farm does not allow picnicking in the orchard, which it treats as a food production area, or in the parking lot. It suggests Hacklebarney State Park, Grove Street Park or Chubb Park in Chester for a picnic.
Some rows of apple trees are closed to picking until the variety is ripe, so check the farm's picking schedule for what is open. It is about a third of a mile from the entrance to the farthest point of the back orchard, and some orchard areas are on hills with uneven ground. The farm says its orchards are wheelchair accessible in dry conditions.
Admission & Guidelines
A ticket is required to enter the orchard and the you-pick fields, and the farm does not guarantee admission without buying ahead. Everything you pick is priced separately, and you buy everything you pick. Kids 2 and under are free, and everyone 3 and older needs a ticket.
For 2026, general admission on fall weekends and Monday, October 12 is $15.50 when bought online and $4 more at the gate, with September and late October days at a lower price. Weekdays are a flat $5 picking pass for Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and a season pass is $37.50 with unlimited visits through Fall Fest. Online prices add a small per-ticket fee. For 2026, apples are $3.99 a pound, and the farm sells a Family Bundle of four admissions, a bag of donuts and an apple basket.
The farm takes cash and credit cards, and accepts SNAP/EBT and Senior and WIC FMNP benefits. All ticket sales are final, with no refunds for weather, but you can change the date of your tickets from your account.
Hours / Season of Operation
For 2026, the farm is open Wednesday through Monday and closed on Tuesdays. In September and October it is open 9 AM to 5:30 PM, and in November 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Last entry for picking is 4 PM. Concessions, the Sweet Shed and the wagon rides close at 4:30 PM, the picking fields close at 5 PM and the store closes at 5:30 PM.
Facilities
Portable restrooms are available, some of them wheelchair accessible, with hand sanitizer stations and a hand wash station by the retail store. The farm accepts cash and credit cards. Pets, including emotional support animals, are not allowed on the farm, and there are no dog-friendly areas.
