A Brief History
Trail & Path Info
Things to See & Do
We are in a perfect location to explore the wonders of the Pinelands. Double Trouble State Park is just 3 miles west and encompasses approximately 9000 acres of preserved pinelands forest. The Double Trouble Park has been designated as the Northen Boundry Entrance to the Pinelands Region. The park history is really something; part was once a privately owned cranberry farm, a blueberry farm, and a cedar sawmill run by water. The 'Village of Double Trouble' has been preserved and has walking tour information pedistals to help you learn about the area. The "Wild and Senic" Cedar Creek flows through this park dividing Berkeley township and Lacey Townships and flows to the Barnegat Bay. We can even rent you a canoe or kayak and you can explore its natural wonder on a leisurely paddle downstream returning right back to the campground.
Berkeley Island Park just 1.5 miles east of our entrance is a very lovely Ocean County Park. Though the damage from Storm Sandy had ravaged the island, our great county has put this park on track for more than $8 million in park upgrades. With the access to the Barnegat Bay and the quiet waters of the Cedar Creek mouth, it is a perfect place to fish, crab, swim, wind surf, Stand Up Paddle Board or sea kayak. If you just want to sit on the quiet edge of the water and listen to the rippling waves that is ok too, or wade the shallow water and sandy bottom shore line... there is something for all ages.
The much fabled Seaside Heights boardwalk and the beautiful Island Beach State Park are about 10 miles east of the campground, located over the Route 37e Bridge on the Barrier Island. The Atlantic Ocean waves are breaking just off the boardwalk across an expanse of white beach sand. What a great power the Ocean holds.
