About Springdale Farms

Springdale Farms is a working farm and farm market on South Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, and the farm calls itself Cherry Hill's last working farm. The same family has run it since Alan Ebert bought the land in 1949. The farm grows more than 35 kinds of fruits and vegetables and carries more from local growers, and chefs at local restaurants buy from it.

In fall the draw is the hayrides. Pumpkin picking hayrides carry visitors out to the pumpkin fields on weekends, and you can book tickets online. Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes are sold at the store through October. For something quieter, the farm runs private campfire hayrides through the woods to an exclusive campsite with a campfire, lakeside picnic tables and lanterns, and it will also book private daytime and educational hayrides.

The market is stocked with the farm's own produce and local honey, cheeses and dairy goods. The bakery makes apple cider donuts every morning, along with pies, breads, muffins, cakes and cookies. The plant yard is a Master Nursery certified garden center, with plants, flowers, vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets, mulch and soil, and a fairy gardening corner.

A Brief History

When Cherry Hill was still Delaware Township, 82 farms were working in 1931, and South Springdale Road was a dirt road lined with farms. Alan Ebert bought what is now Springdale Farms in 1949, after serving in the Navy. His widow Mary, their children Mary Ann Jarvis and John Ebert, and Tom Jarvis, Mary Ann's husband, own the farm today, and the next generation is working on it. It is the only working farm left on Springdale Road.
