About Conklin Farm U-Pick
Conklin Farm U-Pick sits on the corner of Vreeland Avenue and River Road in Montville, and in the fall it is all about pumpkins. Head out to the field and pick your own from thousands of pumpkins in all shapes, colors and sizes, then stop in the barn store for painted pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, jams, orchard fresh apples and fresh apple cider. The farm also sells corn stalks, straw bales and a large selection of mums for decorating. There is no apple picking on site.
Weekends add the extras: regular hayrides for the whole family, a chance to win a 100 lb. pumpkin, fresh-baked apple and pumpkin pies, and freshly made hot cider donuts.
For thrill seekers there is the Haunted Hayride, which runs in daylight and rides through the abandoned back lot of the pumpkin patch, where the old town farm freaks are waiting. Expect loud noises, scary masks, a siren and chainsaws. The farm recommends it for kids at least 9 years old (its pumpkin site says not under 10), and leaves the final call to parents. It does not recommend bringing dogs on the ride because of the noise.

Tips and Tricks
Come on a weekend for the full lineup: the regular and haunted hayrides, pies and hot cider donuts are all weekend features. The haunted hayride's phone is hard to hear over the chainsaws, so the farm asks you to use the message form on its hayride site for questions.
Admission & Guidelines
There is no entrance fee, and parking is free. Some activities, food and hayrides cost extra. For 2026, Haunted Hayride tickets are $15 per person, children and adults alike, sold only in person at the farm on the day you ride; there are no group discounts, but large groups are always seated together. Cash and cards are accepted, with a 3% fee on cards, and the hayride also takes Apple Pay.
No one under 17 is admitted without adult supervision at all times. Pets are welcome as long as they stay on a leash, are well behaved and up to date on their shots, leave other customers, pets and the farm animals alone, and their owner cleans up after them. The farm reserves the right to refuse any pet.
Hours / Season of Operation
The farm is open each fall through Halloween, October 31, weather permitting. Hayrides, pies, cider donuts and the 100 lb. pumpkin contest are weekends only.
The Haunted Hayride runs from late September through October 31: Fridays 4 to 6 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays 11 AM to 6 PM, with the last tickets sold around 5:30 PM. Hours can change with the weather.
