The Canal Society of New Jersey was founded in 1969 to preserve the heritage of New Jerseys historic Morris and the Delaware & Raritan Canals. The Society seeks to study and conserve the remains of New Jerseys canals and to keep their story relevant in todays world. To accomplish these goal the society partners with organizations and communities across the state to create a Greenway corridor along the route of the Morris Canal and each summer brings Waterloo Village, a historic Morris Canal town, back to life with event and activities for the whole family.
The Society is a statewide, all-volunteer non-profit organization with approximately 450 members.
