Farmingdale sits at the edge of Allaire State Park. Its multiuse trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders, Historic Allaire Village keeps 19th-century buildings open to visitors, and the park's family campground has tent sites and cabin-like shelters. The Pine Creek Railroad runs narrow-gauge steam trains inside the park.
