Back in September this year, the Press had a story about a Highlands resident that was raising multiple tortoises in their backyard. It looks like the Turtle Back Zoo was able to adopt the "little" guys, giving them a great new home.
Big Black Jack has a new home at last. Popcorn Park Zoo will remain the abode of the 320-pound Aldabra tortoise and three smaller Aldabra tortoises, all taken from a Highlands resident in September.
On Friday, John Bergmann, general manager of the zoo, said the reptiles are doing fine, and was thrilled they will be staying at the zoo.
"It is great to know everything worked out, and everyone's mind can be put at ease," he said.
